Alternative Payment Program
There are many systems out there to help parents pay for Childcare cost if the incomes qualifies. In California, these alternative payment systems are more available now as Federal and CA state have invested more money for childcare. Parents DO have a choice when come to choosing providers. Challenge School fully supports the subsidized program for both San Mateo and Alamada County. However, parents need to initiate the request and let 4Cs know that Challenge School is your providers in order for Challenge School to accept the payment.
San Mateo County (San Mateo and Belmont)
San Mateo County distributes payment system through 4Cs San Mateo. 4Cs provides subsidized care (financial assistance) to families who meet income and eligibility requirements set by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division. Our program allows parents to use the child care provider of their choice as long as that provider meets eligibility requirements.
Applying is easy! The chart below determines income eligibility. If your income is below the maximum amount for your family size, please complete an ACCESS application (English| Spanish) and submit to 4Cs via mail, fax, or in-person.

Child Care Payment Assistance Eligibility List
IMPORTANT: By adding your name and information to 4Cs’ Eligibility List, you are letting our team know that you are in need of child care payment assistance. Enrollment on 4Cs child care payment programs is based on our team’s assessment of family eligibility (including looking at family size, income, and other factors) NOT by how long you have been waiting. Those who show greater need will be prioritized as funding becomes available. Our staff will contact you if a slot becomes available for your child so please be sure your contact information is accurate before submitting the E-list form.
