Guided reading is differentiated, small group instruction that supports students in developing reading proficiency. It also targets specific learning needs, has appropriate scaffolding and gradually reduces support from the teacher, which promotes more independent reading.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by doing hands-on projects & collaborating with peers to find answers or to solves the given problem. Any interesting thing in daily life could become the students’ topic of study. In the process, students will discuss with peers, works on hands-on crafts, and present their project in which they will be working on their social skills, learning about the properties of different materials,  and practice their communication skills.

Center Based Learning

Center Based Learning

Our TK program learning center focuses more on kindergarten academics.  Our Math & Literacy centers are essential part of the classroom.  Children learn Reading, Math, and STEM skills through finishing tasks independently.  Learning centers allow children to work independently and in groups.  Our centers materials change frequently according to themes.

Project-based Learning in Chinese

We continue our Project-Based Learning in Chinese.  Our teachers ask the driving questions in Mandarin and guide children to explore topics through asking and answering questions and working together as a group.  Our projects span across a week to a month.  Children not only develop curiosity and critical thinking, but also expand their attention span through working on PBL.

Community and Social Responsibility

In TK classroom, we teach community and social responsibility.  We create job chart for classrooms and children are encouraged to take on jobs like chair stackers, floor sweepers, playground guards, and problem resolver.  Once they are assigned to the job, they are responsible to the job and finish the tasks, or they risk being "fired".
